Colophon

How this map was made.

The Legend & Layer studio site is drawn as a sheet: ink, paper, and brass. Display type is Fraunces. Body type is DM Sans.

The opening view is Robertson, New South Wales — the Southern Highlands township the studio calls home (a local test of the hero camera; the Farina project in selected work is unchanged). A dark satellite-toned field holds the frame until the live map loads. The map is MapLibre, using Esri World Imagery (Esri, Maxar, Earthstar Geographics, and the GIS User Community). Coordinates are WGS 84, drawn in Web Mercator.

Selected work on the site names its sources in the story itself. Popham Beach uses Esri Wayback imagery. The islands globe is Natural Earth at 1:10 million. The Last Light atlas draws charted lights from OpenStreetMap. Moon Trees follow NASA’s public list. Marie Tharp’s 1957 North Atlantic diagram remains hers; the homage uses modern bathymetry, not a replica of her plate.

A machine-readable overview of the studio is the LLM guide.
